With the Spring Semester just kicking off, Homecoming 2017 is the talk of the campus. Everyone is gearing up for the many activities planned on campus and around Dalton, such as the parade around campus, the homecoming coronation, and the homecoming bash to celebrate the College's 50th year anniversary homecoming with a theme of "Paint the Town Blue and Silver."
1. Homecoming means fun with friends at the dance
"I am excited for the activities planned around campus this week for students, meeting new people, and the dance, which wraps up our homecoming activities," said Juan Garcia, who was leaving the Dean of Students Office.
2. It's the 50th anniversary of Dalton State!
"I'm excited because it's the 50th anniversary of the College, and I am happy to celebrate this not only with my peers but the alumni of the school," said Trevor Gregory, who was standing on his usual corner wishing students a great day of class.
3. Homecoming celebrates the College's diversity
"This is the biggest game of the year," said Natalie Espinoza-Hensley. "We all get really excited and want to be involved in every aspect of the week and game. And it's a nice integrated environment or the school because we're all showing love for DSC."
4. The homecoming court will be crowned
"I like homecoming because it's a great time of year for us to have fun, and we get to be regal," said Caitlin Pedigo, who was glancing at posters of those on the homecoming court. "Plus, our Roadrunners are doing so well right now and it's a great time to go out and support them!"
5. There is a competitive, yet friendly atmosphere on campus
"Homecoming is a good time to meet new people and have fun," said Derrick Henderson. "Plus, there's a really great competitive spirit here on campus. We have several activities planned all week where organizations on campus will be competing."
